Today was her Kindergarten physical. I was nervous, knowing she would be nervous for her shots.

She was.

I gave her one of my malas, a beautiful purple one, and told her they were my brave beads. That when I feel scared, I just play with the beads for a while.

Because being brave doesn’t mean you aren’t scared. It means your scared, but you get through it anyway.

So we went to the appointment and were nervous together. And she didn’t even cry (maybe a teensy whimper 😉 ).

Afterward I told her how proud I was, and that she could choose whatever she wanted as a reward for her bravery.

She has been asking and asking to try her roller skates again. Last year when she got them, it was a lot of falling and hitting mommy in the shins. Then I got pregnant and had baby and every time she asked, I said no because I wasn’t sure I could handle the shin punch or the bending over supporting her.

But she asked for roller skating time as her reward and today I said yes.
