I live in a pretty small town. We have it pretty good. Not perfect, but not too bad.
Today in the paper there were reports of two different children having encountered a man who tried to get them into a vehicle. Luckily they got away. Also on Facebook today was a video of a near abduction of a one year old who was thankfully saved by his siblings.
I’m just going to take this opportunity to share my unsolicited opinion:
People who fuck with children are pieces of shit. I would personally light every single one of them on fire. (See previous post.)
My child is rarely out of my sight. But I like to prepare her for everything. So I sat her down and asked her if someone tried to take her or grab her what she would do. I then proceeded to explain to her that, God forbid that ever happen, she had permission to do whatever it took to get away. Kick. Bite. Pinch. Poke people’s eyes. If someone grabs you without your consent, there are no rules. You scream and you do whatever it takes to get away and then you run and you don’t stop running or screaming until you are safe.
I hate that we live in a world where I have to teach my baby girl these things. But just because I hate it doesn’t mean I won’t teach her.
